It’s the season when many of us start thinking more about the birth of Christ. I remember my first Christmas as a Christian. Somebody noticed I was reading the Bible and asked me if I was saved.
Huh? I was not familiar with those Jesus jargon clichés back then.
There is definitely a misconception about the word “salvation” in many circles. Most Christians believe that Jesus came to just save our soul from some kind of punishment. In my opinion there is much more to “salvation” than that idea. He came to do more than that! He came to bring emotional healing to our soul. Jesus came to rescue us from our emotional brokenness.
Let’s be honest I know, (and so do you), a lot of people who claim to be “saved” but they are broken. They have broken marriages, broken emotions, broken friendships, broken hearts, broken lives. I’m not saying that everything in your life should always be fun or always happy. But...
I think that God can help put the pieces of our broken lives back together again. It starts with being honest with ourselves and with others about our brokenness and giving the broken pieces of our lives over to God for the healing to begin.

I still have broken things in my life from my own dumb choices but also from the choices of others. If I allow myself to slow down and embrace God’s love, I find a peace that is truly supernatural filling my mind and heart. I can sense His healing touch. So...
This Christmas don’t get too wrapped up in the craziness of the parties, gift exchanges, and over marketing of the gigantic sales at the malls. Take some time out, slow down, and enjoy the relationships in your life and knowledge that God loves you, even if you don’t know a lot of Jesus jargon! (Which is probably a good thing)
He is the healer of the brokenhearted. He is the one who bandages their wounds. Psalm 147:3

I agree. Christianese was a foreign language to me even though I had grown up in the church. I'm so glad we don't have to use 16th century vernacular to communicate either. I remember being young and thinking Jesus spoke in the King's english. Had no idea that it was simply a translation.
I have to admit I've been a bit down about no job, money, etc., but it's good for me to remember all the things God has done in my life and for us. He says he will never leave us or forsake us, so I cling to that. And I am so grateful for the people He has placed in my life. I am so blessed with family and friends who are jewels in the crown of my life.
