I think friendships between men and women can work, but if you're married, you have to respect those boundaries. It is absolutely not okay for a married person to have anyone of the opposite sex as their "best" friend. Not okay to hang out without the other spouse either. We have to be careful because the minute we think we're okay and don't need to watch is just before we fall into problems.

I love my 'guy' friends but they are special because they have come through the best friendship I have, my husband. My heart was captured by one and now of MOST importance, so ALL other friendships, male or female, MUST be filtered through him as well as considered carefully by my own discernment. Life is miserable without friends... MISERABLE... but acquiring friends carefully is Wisdom for your future...! If your married... do it together as you guide each other together because your friend now must also be your partners friend, so go with caution and love stayed on the foundation of each other! If you are not married and find friendship in the opposite sex, pursue friends with this same caution and love asking yourself if this would make a good family member, for that is exactly what might happen.
